My drug and me. :)

Being a student is definitely not easy, especially when your faculty crams you up with 6 subjects in your first semester in college. Staying up late night finishing up assignments, completing lab reports, preparing for a presentation, doing tutorials or being it just hanging out with my friends. Doing one of it for one night is okay, but 2-3 of it on a night, caused me headaches. Started off as minor ones, as time progressed, my headaches too progressed, to a major one. Then as time passed by, tests and quizzes starting coming in, came along dear Migraine with them. Being a hyped up person all the time, the frequent headaches only stopped me from being who I am.

I first neglected it, used to just sleep over the headaches that I usually get but in the long run, there seem no avail to the pain that keeps recurring. Not finishing up lab reports or tutorials on time wasn't a good idea either. So, I decided to consult my family doctor and I was told that all these headaches that I've been having was Migraine, more specifically, Primary Migraine. And of course, what caused it was heat, stress, and lack of sleep or food. Lack of FOOD definitely wasn't the cause therefore the other 3 reasons explained the migraine.

So, my physician prescribed me with PONSTAN, to take it whenever my headaches strikes.
Ponstan capsules contain the active ingredient mefenamic acid, which is a type of medicine called a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). NSAIDs are used to relieve pain and inflammation. So yes, it did relieve my pain. But that lasted just for a while. Since I had occasional gastritis, Ponstan only worsened it. Also, Ponstan caused me drowsiness, dizziness and occasional skin rashes.

I visited my physician again, explained to him my situation, ans then he decided to give me TREXIMET Oral. Treximet instead of NSAID's, it contains naproxen and sumatriptan. It is used to treat migraines when they occur. It helps to relieve headache and other symptoms of migraines, including sensitivity to light/sound, nausea, and vomiting. I have to say, Treximet has been my life savior ever since. It's in my hand bag, school bag, make up bag, my drawer, even on my study table. I just pop it into my mouth whenever Mr. Migraine visits me.

Now, I get to do anything I want, with no worries. I can stay up all I want without having to worry of putting up with headaches. I can never be any thankful to my Physician, Dr. Raj and of course to Treximet for letting me be whom I am. :)
